Lenten Faith Growth Opportunities

Lent is fast approaching (Ash Wednesday is February 17) and we are offering three ways to enrich your journey. All will be available on-line.

  • For a brief daily reflection, we suggest signing up for a daily email from Tim Gray of the Augustine Institute. To receive a daily email, go to “www.formed.org/lent”. Sign up by entering your email address. The reflections are about five minutes long and will give you ideas to think about and pray about. (St. Michael Church has a subscription for the entire parish.)

  • We will also be utilizing FLOCKNOTE to send you a weekly message about Lent with a link to a reflection from WORD ON FIRE (Bishop Robert Barron). These emails or texts will be scheduled to be sent Monday mornings starting Monday February 15. With these notes you can offer your reactions/thoughts, or questions using the comment box on the right side of the screen. Your comments can be seen and read by anyone who looks at the message after you. I will be trying to look for comments at least daily and respond to questions as best I can. My only caution is to try to stay on topic, please.

  • We will also utilize FLOCKNOTE, to send a link to a wonderful faith enrichment video series (“The Search” from Augustine Institute. This weekly series addresses the question “what are we (you and I, each of us) seeking or searching for in life?” The series is beautifully done, thought provoking, and inspiring.

We are really trying to get some sharing and discussion started within the parish with “the Search.” We would do this virtually using ZOOM. The episodes will start on Ash Wednesday for the first episode and then on the Sundays of Lent. Two days later, there will be a ZOOM meeting (8:30 for episode one and then 7:00 pm). To join the ZOOM meeting, you will need to respond “Yes” to the invitation in the email.

I pray that we can all have a rich and rewarding Lent in preparation for celebrating the Pascal Mystery.
